Attorneys
Note to Attorneys:
Since VTC's beginning in Montgomery County we have seen a huge amount of participation from attorneys assisting veterans and soldiers. We hope that support will continue and grow. It is up to you to help future participants make their first steps into our program. The VTC Team is doing their best to make this process as efficient as possible. Your dedication to your client's well-being is greatly appreciated. Thank you for all of your hard work!

-Best Regards
The VTC Team
Welcome!

  • Explain that the program requires all participants to have an alcohol monitoring device for at least 150 consecutive days at the start of the program.
  • If the client wishes to pursue VTC the attorney completes the application process.

 2.  Complete the Application

  4. Completed Judgment Forms reflecting DA agreed final disposition upon completion of program.
  5. Documentation of any treatment for substance abuse and/or mental health programs that the client is currently participating in.
  • Once the application is completed and the necessary documents have been acquired, the attorney must get approval from the DA and obtain the DA's signature on the application. (The case remains in general sessions court if the DA does not agree.) Once signed turn in all document to the Program Director Edward Moss or the Court Liaison Tiffany Anderson.
  • Then the client must attend VTC orientation presented on the 1st Monday of every month at 9:00 a.m. located in ADR Room (Room 206). Please remind your client that this is a requirement for anyone applying to the VTC. They will also complete an intake assessment with the court immediately following orientation.

 3.  The VTC Team Deliberates
  • The VTC Team considers the application and votes whether to accept the client on the last Tuesday of every month.
  • If the client is accepted, the VTC Team considers and votes on the proposed disposition of charges.

 4.  Decisions Are Made
  • The attorney and their client will appear during the following VTC session (the same day as the Team vote) and are informed of the VTC Team's decision to accept or not accept the client into the program.
  • The attorney discusses the contract with the client and confirms that they still want to enter the VTC.
  • The client informs the court of their choice to enter and signs the contract.
  • During court, the attorney prepares the final disposition and submits it to the court coordinator.
  • The attorney will be notified if adjustments must be made to the original disposition through out the program.

5.  Client Graduates
  • The attorney will be notified when his/her client is nearing completion of the VTC program.
